The Golden State Warriors traded for Jimmy Butler and won 23 of their last 30 games in the regular season. They still ended up in the play-in tournament. A big miscalculation for the Warriors. They will now host the Memphis Grizzlies at The Chase Center. The winner of the game will face the Houston Rockets in the first round of the upcoming playoffs.

A TOUGH LOSS TO THE CLIPPERS FOR GOLDEN STATE

Everything was on the line when the Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Clippers in the last game of the regular season. The winner would go straight into the playoffs and the loser to the well feared play-in. Golden State lost the game after overtime (119-124) and now find themselves in an awkward spot with the season on the line for Steph Curry and his teammates. Jonathan Kuminga was out of the rotation versus The Clippers and will likely be out of it again tonight.

JIMMY BUCKETS STEPPED UP WHEN HE HAD TOO

Jimmy Butler had a great game versus the LA Clippers and produced when it was needed. Jimmy had 30 points and nine dimes. Steph Curry made seven out of 12 shots from behind the arc and had 36 points with six assists. He was a minus 16 while Butler was a plus two. Draymond Green had a couple of bad possessions in overtime which could haunt him for a while. After all, he announced that the Warriors were about to win the championship when Butler arrived in the Bay Area from Miami. Green told reporters after the loss to the LA Clippers that the Warriors “we’ll be fine”, whatever he means by that.

GOLDEN STATE GOT TO 48 WINS IN THE REGULAR SEASON

The Warriors finished of the regular season with a record of 48 wins and 34 lost games. Golden State ended up in the 7th spot. Three out of these 48 wins came against the Memphis Grizzlies (and one of the 34 losses). They made a heck of a run from the trade deadline day to the end of the regular season and it was not enough. That has to be something of a heartbreak to the ball club, for sure. The season is at stake for the Warriors tonight and Steph Curry will not be younger next season. If Golden State goes out tonight the season is nothing but a solid failure.

THE MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES WEIRD ENDING TO THE SEASON

It was a truly weird ending to the regular season for the Memphis Grizzlies. The firing of the head coach Taylor Jenkins with only nine games left of the season did not give the team any plausible and immediate effect. The Grizzlies finished out the season with four wins and five losses under the interim head coach Tuomas Lisalo out of Finland. At this point the team does not seem to know who they are on the floor. That is not a good sign in all honesty.

A GOOD TIME FOR JA MORANT TO STEP UP

Memphis' record for the season is at 48 wins and 34 lost games, just like the Golden State Warriors. The record on the road is 22-19. The Grizzlies has less experience from big games like this one than the Golden State Warriors have. Ja Morant has gained a lot of attention recently for the way he celebrates his three pointers. Ja must play at his highest level if the Grizzlies are really serious about going into the playoffs. That goes for Desmond Bane, Santi Aldana and Jarren Jackson Jr as well.
