Five fixtures into the Premier League edition of 2024-25, we can see that The Wolves are in serious trouble already. The Wanderers have not won a match in the Premier League yet. A desperate Wolverhampton side will need every single point they can collect when they face a strong Liverpool side at the Molineux.
With only a single point collected out of 15 possible so far in the Premier League, Wolverhampton need to turn things around very quickly. Liverpool is a big challenge. The Merseysiders have won four games (one loss) out of five possible and they are at the second spot in the table just one point behind Manchester City. The Wolves' defence has been awful at the start of the new season. The club has conceded 14 goals in five matches and scored five. If The Wolves don’t sort out their defence as soon as possible, they will find themselves in the Championship next season. The Wolves lost to Arsenal and Chelsea in the first two matches, then a draw to Nottingham, and then losses to Aston Villa and Newcastle. The loss against Villa was bad since the Wolves were up 1-0 at the end of the game, and then Villa scored three quick goals. The manager Gary O’Neill is in a world of trouble, and if he and his players don’t turn things around, he will be fired sooner rather than later. The Wolves lost away to Brighton in the League Cup this week (2-3).
Klopp was extremely successful in his stint at Anfield Road. It is never easy to replace a club legend like that. Liverpool’s new manager Arne Slot is off to a great start to his Anfield adventure. With four wins and one loss so far in the Premiership, the club is off to a very good start. As for now, it looks like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City will fight for the title come springtime. Liverpool also won their sole match in the Champions League so far (Milan away). Liverpool has only conceded a goal in the Premier League and scored eleven. Their defence has been solid as a rock. Their only loss so far came to Nottingham at Anfield (0-1). Liverpool has defeated Ipswich Town, Brentford, Manchester United, and Bournemouth. They defeated West Ham in the League Cup midweek (5-1).
The keeper Becker is doubtful. Kelleher is a solid backup. Harvey Elliott is out for the visitors from the Northwest. The Wolves will miss Mosquera for the remainder of the season. Gonzalez, Kalajdzic, Traore, and Meupiyou are out for the Wolves. To make things even worse for Wolverhampton, there has been a virus around their training facility.
