Newcastle aim to boost their Champions League hopes and avenge their 3-1 loss to Fulham in September. Meanwhile, Fulham seek a crucial win to stay in the European race as they push for a top seven finish. Both teams enter today's game trying to keep up with the teams above them as Newcastle tries to reach top four and Fulham attempts to not let themselves sink further into the middle pack.
Since mid December, Newcastle have won 10 of their last 11 matches with only a 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth blemishing their record. They also bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Southampton after a brace from Alexander Isak last time out. The Swedish striker now has 17 league goals and is the first Newcastle player to score in five straight away matches. Newcastle are level on points with fourth placed Man City but have tough fixtures ahead including an EFL Cup semi final against Arsenal and league games against City, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool. But, on the bright side no team has earned more points than Newcastle (21) in the last eight matches.
Fulham continue to chase European qualification but have struggled for consistency winning just three of their last 12 league matches (D6 L3). They beat Leicester 2-0 for their first league win of 2025 but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend after a late goal by Lisandro Martinez. Despite home struggles, Fulham have lost just once in their last seven away league games (W3 D3) and have already gathered 16 away points, only two fewer than last season’s total. They now aim to complete a third Premier League double over Newcastle having done so in 2006-07 and 2008-09.
Newcastle will be without Harvey Barnes, Callum Wilson, and Jamaal Lascelles while Miguel Almiron has left for Atlanta United. Nick Pope is available but may remain behind Martin Dubravka. Sven Botman could return to the eleven, with the rest of the lineup unchanged.
Fulham miss Harry Wilson, Reiss Nelson, and Kenny Tete. Wilson’s absence may see Adama Traore start on the right or Emile Smith Rowe shift wide. Raul Jimenez who scored in Fulham’s win over Newcastle is expected to lead the line again.
Newcastle possible lineup: Dubravka; Livramento, Botman, Schar, Hall; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
Fulham possible lineup: Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Lukic; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez
