Carlos Alcraraz is back in action on the ATP Tour. Alcaraz will face the Botiv Van De Zandschulp for the fourth time ever. The Italian Lorenzo Sonego had a great run at the Australian Open and he will square off with Holger Rune.
Carlos has not played since his QF exit to Djokovic at The Australian Open. Alcaraz lost his prior match to Van De Zandschulp at the US Open last year. It was in the round of 64 and Botic shocked the world with a win in three straight sets. This is only his third entry of the 2025 season for Carlos. Alcatraz is up two to nothing in the head to head with Van De Zandschulp. Alcaraz is ranked at the third spot in the world and seeded at the first position in Rotterdam.
The 29-year-old Van De Zandshulp is currently ranked at the 84th position in the world. Botic’s highest ever ranking was at the 22nd spot back in 2022. He has never won a title in his career. His start to the 2025 season has not been good with two first-round exits at the Australian Open and in Montpellier. Van De Zandschulp tried to qualify for Adelaide but did not succeed.
Sonego made it to the QFs at The Australian Open and lost to Ben Shelton in four sets. It was a great run for the 29-year-old from Turin in the north of Italy. His best Grand Slam result to date. Lorenzo has played eight official matches on the ATP tour in 2025 and won six of them. He is currently ranked at the 34th position in the world.
The 21-year-old from Denmark is currently ranked at the 14th position in the world. Holger played in the Davis Cup last week (Denmark vs Serbia). Rune defeated Kecmanovic but lost to Medjedovic.
