The Top seed at the ATP 500 Barcelona Open, Alcaraz won the Rolex Masters in Monte Carlo last week and is looking for another title this week. Carlos will square off with seven seed The Frenchman Arthur Fiis in the second semifinal of the day at Pista Rafa Nadal.
These two youngsters have only played each other once on the ATP tour. They squared of last week in the QF of the ATP 1000 Rolex Masters in Monte Carlo last week. The 21 year old Alcaraz defeated the 20 year Arthur Fils in three sets. 4-6, 7-5 ,6-3. The match took two hours and 24 minutes to finish. Fils lost the match mostly because his second serve was not working well. Alcraz won 52% of the points in the match.
Carlos faced De Minaur in the QF yesterday and won the match in two sets, 7-5, 6-3. Alcaraz had 16 winners and 34 unforced errors. De Minaur had ten winners to his 33 unforced errors. Carlos went to the net on eight occasions and won every point. Alcatraz won 54% of the points played in the match. The world number two from Murcia has won eight straight matches on the ATP tour.
Fils had a very short match at Pista Rafa Nadal against Tsitsipas in the QF. It was over after the second game in the first set when Stefanos retired from the match. So Arthur will be well rested this afternoon when he faces Alcaraz. Fils is ranked at the 14th position in the world. Arthur took out Careno Busta in the opening round in straight sets and Martinez too in the second round.
Carlos got the better of Quinn in the first round to start off his campaign in Barcelona. Alcaraz went on to beat Djere in the round of 16. He won both matches in straight sets. Carlos has won two titles this season. The ATP 500 Rotterdam and the ATP 1000 Rolex Masters in Monte Carlo last week. Alcaraz has match record of 23 wins and only four losses so far in the 2025 season.
The Frenchman has won 17 and lost seven matches in the 2025 season. Fils started out his season with a QF spot in Hong Kong. Arthur went out in the round of 32 at the Australian Open in Melbourne. He had a second round exit in Rotterdam. Fils went on to lose in the first round at Dubai. Arthur reached the QF at Indian Wells and at the ATP 1000 Miami Masters. Just as he did at Rolex Masters in Monte Carlo last week. The semifinal today at the ATP 500 Barcelona Open is the first of the season for Arthur Fils.
