Casper is the second seed in Barcelona after Carlos Alcaraz. The world number ten has won 14 and lost five matches so far in the 2025 season. The 26 year old got to the second round at the Australian Open (lost to Mensik). Ruud got to the final in Dallas but lost it to Denis Shapovalov. Casper went out in the second round at the ATP 500 Acapulco. Just as he did in Indian Wells. Ruud got to the round of 16 at the Miami Masters. Casper was not at his best last week in Monte Carlo.
