In the last OF of the day at the ATP 500 Barcelona Open Stefanos Tsitsipas and Arthur Fills will face off with each other for the third time ever on the tour.
The Greek have never beaten the Frenchman before. Will it happen today at Pista Rafa Nadal in Barcelona?
Arthur Fils who is 20 years of age have played against Stefanos Tsitsipas on two occasions on the ATP tour. Fils won both of the matches. The prior one took place at the ATP 500 Basel in October 2024 (indoor hard). Arthur was able to win in two straight sets (7-6 (5), 6-3). The first match between them was played in Antwerpen (indoor hard ) 2023. Fils won in straight sets again, (7-6 (4), 7-6 (4).So Fils have never lost a set to Tsitsipas.
Fils, ranked at the 14th spot in the world, faced Martinez in the round of 16. It only took Arthur one hour and eight minutes to close the deal. He won the match 6-2, 6-3. Fils has a heavy serve that he took advantage of in the match. He won 80 % on the points on his first serve and 69 % on the second serve. Arthur the only breakpoint he faced in the match and was able to convert two out of the five he had. Fils won 59% of the total points in the match. Arthur got the better of Carreno Busta (straight sets) in the opening round at the ATP 500 Barcelona Open.
Stefanis who’s currently ranked at the 16th position in the world won over Korda in two sets (7-6 (4), 6-4). The match took one hour and 37 minutes to finish. The second serve for Stefanos was the key factor in the match. He won 76 % of the points. Korda won 61% of the points on his second serve. Tsitsipas did not face a single breakpoint in the match and only converted one out of his own seven breakpoints. He had 15 winners to his 30 unforced errors. Tsitsipas took care of Opelka in the round of 32 in two sets.
This is the 4th straight QF for Fils, Indian Wells. Miami and Monte Carlo. All of them ATP 1000 Masters events. Arthur started out the season by reaching the QF in Hong Kong. Fils went out in the round of 32 at the Australian Open. He lost in the second round at Rotterdam and in the first round in Dubai. Fils has won 16 and lost seven matches on the ATP tour in 2025.
The 26 years old from Athens have won one title this season. It was at the ATP 500 in Dubai where he defeated Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. Tsitsipas started out the 2025 season at the United Cup. He lost in the opening round at the Australian Open to MIchelsen. Reached the quarter in Rotterdam. Lost straight away in Doha before the title in Dubai was won. He lost in the round of 16 at Indian Wells and the round of 32 at the Miami Masters. Last week he got to the QF (lost to Musetti) in Monte Carlo.
