The ATP 500 Dallas Open In Texas has arrived at the semi-finals stage. The second seed, Casper Ruud will square off with the Spaniard, Jamie Munar. The defending champion Tommy Paul, will face the reborn Canadian Denis Shapovalov.
The 27-year-old Munar from the island of Mallorca has had a great week in Dallas, Texas. Jamie took care of Bu in the opening round and then he defeated the 4th seed, Shelton. Munar did not lose a set to Bu or Shelton. Munar defeated Arnaldi in the QF in three sets. He saved four out of five break balls against Arnaldi. Munar is ranked at the 64th position in the world at the moment. Jamie has won six of the eight games he has played so far in the 2025 season.
The Norwegian is up 3-1 in the head-to-head. Their previous encounter was just recently in the first round of the Australian Open and Ruud won it in five sets. That was their first match since Tokyo in 2022. Casper took care of Duckworth in the first round in three sets and then he defeated Mmoh in two sets. In the QG Ruud got the better of Nishioka. Ruud is currently ranked at the 5th spot in the world and he has won eight of the nine matches he has played this season.
Shapovalov had a rough year last season and 2025 is all about resetting and finding joy on the court again. The 25-year-old left-hander with the one-armed backhand is ranked at the 54th position. Denis has played eight matches across three entries on the ATP tour in 2025. He has won five of the matches. Denis defeated Rinderknech in two sets in the round of 32. In the round of 16, Shapovalov took out the top seed Fritz in three sets then he beat Machac in the QF in two sets.
Tommy Paul won the Dallas Open title last season and is here to do it again. The 27-year-old American is ranked at the 9th spot. Tommy is up in the head-to-head with Shapovalov (2-1). Paul is 9-2 so far on the ATP tour in the 2025 season. In Dallas, the third seed Paul has beaten Brooksby (2-1), Quinn (2-1), and Opelka (2-0). Tommy Paul reached the QF at the Australian Open.
