We have reached the round of 16 at the ATP 1000 Rolex Masters in Monte Carlo. The defending Champion out of Greece, Stefanos Tsitsipas, is squaring off with Nuno Borges from Portugal in the last match at the center court. Court Rainier III.

BORGES IS PLAYING WELL SO FAR IN MONTE CARLO

Nuno Borges started out his Monte Carlo Campaign by beating Rune in straight sets. The 28 year old from Portugal went on to take care of Pedro Martinez in the Round of 32. Nuno won the match, 7-5, 6-7 (7), 6-4. Borges served well on the Red clay and made ten aces to his four double faults. Nuno won 67% of the points on his second serve and 62% on his second serve. Borges had 17 breakpoints and converted five. He faced nine breakpoints and saved six of those.

NUNO BORGES IS RANKED AT THE 43RD SPOT IN THE WORLD

Nuno is ranked at the 43rd position in the world at the moment. His highest ranking to date was at number 30 back in September of 2024. Nuno’s record so far in the 2025 season is at 14 wins and ten lost matches. Borges got to the second round in Hong Kong. He reached the semis in Auckland and the round of 32 in Melbourne where he lost to Alcaraz. Borges lost in the second round in Marseille and in Doha Too. Nuno then had second round exits in Dubai and in Indian Wells.

TSITSIPAS IS UP I THE HEAD TO HEAD

Borges lost straight away at the ATP 1000 Miami Masters. Last week he played in Marrakech and got to the QF. Borges and Tsitsipas have only faced each other once on the ATP tour so far and Tsitsipas won that match played at the ATP 1000 Rome Masters in 2023. Stefanos won it in two sets (6-3, 6-3).

TSITSIPAS JUST TOOK CARE OF J0RDAN THOMPSON

Stefanos got the better of Thompson in his first match of the Rolex Masters in Monte Carlo. The reigning champion won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Only 49% of his first serves went in but he won 80% of those. Tsitsipas won 63% of the points on his second serve. He made six aces to his two double faults. Tsitsipas converted four out of the nine breakpoints he had. He saved five out of the seven he faced. Stefanos won a total of 86 points to 74 for Thompson.

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS SO FAR IN THE 2025 SEASON

Tsitsipas had a rough ending to the 2024 season but has luckily picked up the pace this season. The 26 year old from Athens is currently ranked at the 8th position in the world. He started out his 2025 campaign at the United Cup where he won and lost one match. Tsitsipas lost straight away at the Australian Open and then he reached the QF in Rotterdam. He Lost in the opening round in Doha and won the title in Dubai. Stefanos reached the round of 16 at Indian Wells and the round of 32 In Miami. He has won 12 and lost six matches in 2025.
