What a season it has been so far for Liverpool and their Dutch manager, Arne Slot. Slot joined the Reds from Feyenoord in the offseason. Liverpool currently tops both the PL and CL table. Liverpool defeated Lille in their last CL game by 2-1. Salah and Elliott scored the goals. Ipswich Town lost to Liverpool over the weekend at Anfield 1-4. As for now, Liverpool are in a great position across all competitions.
The Reds are three points ahead of Barcelona in the Champions League standings. One point is enough for the Reds to secure the top spot. Liverpool have won four of their last five games across all comps. Arne Slot will be back in The Netherlands for the first time since he took over the reins at Anfield. When Slot was the manager for Feyenoord, he only won one of seven games versus PSV.
PSV had a great outing in their previous CL fixture. PSV faced Red Star Belgrade away and won the game by 3-2. PSV were up by 3-0 after the first half after an impressive display. PSV took care of NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie over the weekend (3-2). PSV are at the top of the summit in the standings of the Eredivisie ahead of their eternal rivals Ajax from Amsterdam.
Eindhoven has won three out of their last five across all competitions. PSV are currently at the 19th spot in the standings of the CL. PSV are one point behind Real Madrid at the 16th position. The first eight teams have a bye in the first round of the knockout stage of the competition. Teams 9 to 24 will be in the first round of the knockout stage. Teams 9 to 16 will play at home in the second leg.
Sergiño Dest and Flamingo are out for PSV Eindhoven. Ivan Perišić and Malik Tillman will also miss the game for PSV. As far as Liverpool goes, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez, and Diogo Jota are out. There is a chance that Slot will potentially rest Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Van Dijk.
