Olimpia Milano are hosting Crvena Zvezda in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague this evening. Both clubs are in the middle of the standings with six wins each. Milano and Zvezda are in the hunt for one of the eight playoff berths. A win tonight would be a step in the right direction for both teams.
Milano have picked up three wins in their last three fixtures in the Euroleague. They took care of Fenerbahce in Istanbul (91-85). An important and big victory for Ettore Messina’s team. Milano defeated Maccabi at home before that one (98-86). Milano’s three game winning streak began with a win against Partizan away (88-81).
As a matter of fact Milano has won five out of their last six games in the Euroleague. Milano has two straight wins in the domestic Italian league at this point. They have simply been great as of late. The experienced duo of Nikola Mirotic and Leandro Bolmaro have been very helpful for the team recently. That goes for Zach LeDay too who joined the team from Partizan during the off season.
Crvena Zvezda has won three out of their last five games in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Zvezda took some serious care of Bayern Munich Friday night at home. The game finished 101- 77. Crvena Zvezda lost to Partizan in the anticipated Belgrade derby before the win versus Bayern. Both Milano and Crvena Zvezda have a record of six wins and six losses so far in the Euroleague. Zvezda has won six straight games in their domestic league.
Filip Petrusev has been a great addition for Crvena Zvezda since he joined the club from Olympiacos on a loan a couple of weeks ago. He had 25 points in the win versus Bayern Munich. The veteran Nemanja Nedovic is important for Zvezda with his shooting and spacing. So is Nikola Kalinic with his grit on the court. Zvezda has lost a couple of really close games so far in the Euroleague in clutch time.
