There is an element of things being upside down in this season's edition of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. One of these things is the fact that Real Madrid is in the 13th spot in the standings and Paris Basketball are at the number one spot. It was expected to be the opposite before the season started.

PARIS BASKETBALL THE SURPRISE OF THE SEASON

Paris Basketball are easily the big surprise of the Euroleague so far this ongoing season. They top the standings with a record of eleven wins and four losses. Paris lost in their previous game in the Euroleague to their French compatriots of Lyon-Villeurbanne. Before that loss they had ten straight wins, which is very impressive at this high level of competition. Let’s not forget that this club won the Eurocup the prior season.

HOW THE DOMESTIC LEAGUE PLAY IS GOING

Paris Basketball just defeated Monaco in the domestic French League a couple of days ago. Paris are second in the French Championship behind Cholet, with a record of nine wins and three losses. Real Madrid have been playing better in the domestic Spanish league with a record of eight wins and three losses. They are in the second spot behind Valencia at this point.

REAL MADRID A DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE EUROLEAGUE

Real Madrid has been the strongest powerhouse in the Euroleague over the last decade. They lost the title game of the final four in Berlin to Panathinaikos in the spring and things have not been easy for them ever since. Yabusele left for the NBA (Philadelphia 76ers) in the off season. He was the heart and the soul of the team. Real Madrid currently find themselves at the 13th spot in the standings of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Their record is six wins and nine losses and as of now they aren't in the playoffs. That can change quickly, as we all know.

THREE GAME LOSING STREAK FOR REAL MADRID

Madrid has lost three straight in the Euroleague to Zalgiris, Fenerbahce and Lyon-Villeurbanne. Their offence is not working and Paris has an excellent defence to counter Real's poor offence. If they keep going on like this there will be some serious speculations about the head coach Chus Mateo getting fired.
