Both Nice and Twente are desperate for a turnaround in the Europa League as they face off at the Allianz Arena. Both clubs remains without a win after three games and need a result to avoid falling to far behind. With Nice being 28th and Twente 32nd both teams are right now out of the tournament, but it is early and a push from either team could see them climb to a playoff spot.
Excelling domestically under Franck Haise Nice are yet to translate their Ligue 1 form to the Europa League. After a promising 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, Nice endured a tough 4-1 defeat to Lazio and then a disappointing 1-0 loss to Ferencváros in Budapest. Haise’s side have shown resilience, winning their last two league games including a solid 1-0 away victory over Brest. Currently sitting fifth in the Ligue 1 with 16 points they look solid as they have the third best defence into league conceding 9 goals in ten games.
FC Twente also enter this match in search of their first Europa League win. Their league stage opener was a solid 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United but they followed that up with another 1-1 draw against Fenerbahçe and a 2-0 defeat to Lazio as well after an early red card to goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall. Domestically Twente have rebounded with back to back wins over Heracles and Willem II. Sitting fifth in the Erdevise after eleven games they are only one point away from Feyenoord. A win today could see Twente move up to a playoff spot.
Nice will be without Pablo Rosario who is suspended after a red card against Ferencváros. Tanguy Ndombele is likely to be the replacement in midfield while Hichem Boudaoui and Morgan Sanson are sidelined. Forward Terem Moffi remains out with a long term injury.
For Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall is suspended so Przemyslaw Tyton is set to start in goal. Midfielder Younes Taha is unavailable due to injury but attackers Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Mitchell van Bergen have returned to fitness and should start alongside Sam Lammers who has scored in back to back games. Midfielder Michal Sadilek is back from injury and may make his first appearance this season.
