Fresh off an incredible 4-0 victory over Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur will face Roma in the Europa League. Spurs are feeling confident after their recent victory, meanwhile Roma are coming into this game after two straight losses as they hope to turn their luck around.
Spurs are currently sixth in the Premier League as their attacking prowess has saved them from going further down the table. With a perfect home record in the Europa League so far, Tottenham hopes to extend their momentum and secure some crucial points. An inconsistent start to the Premier League with six wins and five losses has left them at a cross road in which every game can go either way. But for now they hope to gather a fourth win out of five available in the Europa League as they look to defeat Roma and improve their record.
Roma’s troubles continue under new gaffer Claudio Ranieri as they struggle to find consistency both in Italy and in Europe. After a series of managerial changes and a poor start to the season, Roma have only managed one win in the Europa League as they sit in 20th place. A recent 1-0 loss to league leaders Napoli also made it their fourth game in a row without a victory, leaving Roma in 12th place in the Serie A. This match against Tottenham is critical if they hope to keep their European dreams alive and not slide further down the table.
Spurs are facing some defensive troubles with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario sidelined due to a broken ankle. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are also unavailable meaning Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies will continue in central defense. Despite these setbacks manager Ange Postecoglou is likely to maintain his attacking approach with Rodrigo Bentancur set to start after serving his suspension.
Roma are still without Eldor Shomurodov who is out with a muscle issue. Lorenzo Pellegrini has returned from injury meanwhile Paulo Dybala is expected start along side Dovbyk in attack.
Tottenham Hotspur possible: Forster; Spence, Dragusin, Davies, Gray; Sarr, Bentancur, Bergvall; Johnson, Solanke, Werner
Roma possible lineup: Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Hummels, Angelino; Soule, Baldanzi, Cristante, Zalewski; Dybala, Dovbyk
