Today I have alot of games from both Europa League and Conference League qualifiers in store for you. So lets get down to brass tacks
Ilves – They overcame very strong opposition from Austria in the previous round. They could very well pull off an upset at home against an energy-depleted and weakened Djurgården.
FC Zurich – They have momentum and have started the season brilliantly. It's strange that they are not bigger favorites at home. Guimaraes has not yet started their league play and lost their most influential player from last season (Jota).
Kilmarnock – Faced "impossible" opposition in their league opener (Celtic), but once again, the attacking duo (Matty Kennedy and Kyle Vasell) showed they can trouble any defense. They have impressed in Europe before and now face a more manageable task. Tromsø is struggling. They are languishing at the bottom of the Norwegian league, and their offense continues to falter. Almost nothing happened in the first half against Rosenborg last time, but in the second half, they were completely outplayed. Jayden Nelson is nearing a comeback. Markus Henriksen is unavailable.
Sheriff Tiraspol - I saw Sheriff Tiraspol in both matches against Elfsborg and was not at all convinced. Olimpija seems stronger at the moment and gets my trust.
Djurgården - has run out of steam. Not surprising, really. They have lost Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham. His natural replacement, Tocmac Nguen, was injured against Kalmar. Samuel Dahl, who has dominated his left side, is sold to Roma. Albin Ekdal, with loads of experience, is injured.
Players who have been pushed incredibly hard lately: Tobias Gulliksen and Dennis Humet.
Gustav Wikheim achieved nothing against IFK Göteborg in the Allsvenskan last time – overall, it was a completely powerless performance.
Rasmus Schuller recently returned from injury but limped off already in the first half. However, he is traveling to Finland. Patric Åslund, also a central midfielder, seems a bit lost. He has not found his role after the summer move from Västerås.
The Allsvenskan is better than the Finnish league, but is Djurgården – in its current state – really that much better than Ilves (who knocked out strong opposition from Austria in the previous round)? Highly doubtful.
Ajax - is not nearly as good as before and is still forced to sell players due to financial woes. I think they will struggle to win on Greek soil tonight.
