WINNER SPAIN

VISIT

Spain travel to Denmark for both teams second to last group match aiming to secure top spot in Group 4 League A. While Spain are already through to the quarter finals Denmark need a positive result to keep their hopes of advancing alive.

CAN THE DANES TOPPLE SPAIN?

Denmark sit second in Group 4 with seven points with three behind leaders Spain and three ahead of third placed Serbia. After starting their campaign with wins over Switzerland and Serbia, Denmark were beaten 1-0 by Spain in their first game of the group and then drew 2-2 with Switzerland in their return game. The Danes are in a strong position to finish second but cannot afford poor results in their final two matches. With a new manager in Brian Riemer, Denmark hope that he will lead the team to the playoffs and keep Serbia behind them.

CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE

Spain are the reigning Nations League champions and have been in top form with 10 points from three wins and a draw. If they end up even on the scoresheet with Denmark it would secure them the group’s top spot. A loss on the other hand would leave the door open for a potential upset, especially if Serbia defeat Switzerland. Spain’s success follows a historic 2024 as they claimed both the Nations League and Euro 2024 titles. Unbeaten in competitive matches since March 2023 they hope to extend their streak.

TEAM NEWS

Denmark’s new manager Brian Riemer faces key decisions particularly in attack. Rasmus Hojlund who has scored twice for Manchester United this season is expected to start while Christian Eriksen returns from injury. Denmark’s defence will likely feature Joachim Andersen alongside Vestergaard and Nelsson.

Spain missing Pau Torres, Unai Simon, Rodri, Gavi and Lamine Yamal will rely on Alvaro Morata who has recovered from a head injury to lead the attack. Nico Williams and Dani Olmo are also in line for starting roles.

Denmark possible lineup: Schmeichel; Andersen, Vestergaard, Nelsson; Bah, Hjulmand, Hojbjerg, Dorgu; Eriksen, Hojlund, Gronbaek

Spain possible lineup: Raya; Porro, Vivian, Laporte, Cucurella; Zubimendi, Ruiz; Olmo, Pedri, Williams; Morata
