WALES - WINNER

LATEST ODDS

Wales welcome Iceland to Cardiff City Stadium as both teams look for a victory to secure hopefully secure a playoff spot. Iceland will hope to beat Wales for the first time ever while Wlaes hopes to top the group.

IN POSITION TO TOP THE GROUP

Craig Bellamy’s side currently sits second in League B Group 4 after a 0-0 draw with Turkey where a missed penalty by Kerem Akturkoglu kept their hopes alive. Wales can finish in either first or third place depending on today’s results. A win against Iceland could see them top the group but anything less could see them relegated to the League B playoffs. They have failed to score in five of their last eight matches scoring just four goals. Despite these struggles they are still unbeaten in the Nations League this cycle and will hope to get some much needed points.

SEEKING FIRST WIN AGAINST THE DRAGONS

Iceland arrives in Cardiff with the chance to earn their third Nations League win. A 2-0 victory over Montenegro in their last match gave them hope with late goals from Orri Oskarsson and Isak Bergmann Johannesson sealing the result. While they are finishing no worse than third Iceland could push for promotion with a win over Wales. Their history against the Dragons has been poor failing to win since a World Cup qualifier in 1984. Hoping to secure victory, Iceland will look to defeat Wales of the first time ever.

TEAM NEWS

Oxford’s Mark Harris could also miss out after sustaining a head injury in the draw with Turkey with Daniel James or Liam Cullen likely to step in. Iceland will be missing left back Logi Tomasson due to suspension and captain Aron Gunnarsson who is struggling with a thigh injury. Isak Bergmann Johannesson could earn a starting spot in midfield after his crucial goal against Montenegro and Victor Palsson may fill in for Gunnarsson in defense.
