This is the best matchup of the season so far in the NBA. These two teams have the two bests records in the NBA. One of the ball clubs are first in the West and the other is first in the Eastern Conference. We have a great clashdown between the two best teams in the NBA.
The Thunder are currently in the sweetest spot. First in the Western Conference. The roster is stacked with young and hungry players. These players all seem to be able to shoot and defend. As a franchise they still have wiggle room when it comes to salaries and so on. The future of the wild west belongs to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Oklahoma is led by the MVP candidate, Shai Gilegous-Alexander. So far Shai is the MVP of the season.
The Thunder are at the summit in the West with a record of 30 wins and only five losses. They have stacked up 15 wins in a row. That’s extremely impressive. Let’s remind ourselves that Chet Holmgren is still out and the team will become even better when Chet is back on the floor. The defence is solid as a rock. The head coach Marc Daigneault is a master of in game adjustments. Isaiah Hartenstein started the season injured. The German has played 20 games since he came back from injury. The Thunder have won19 of these games. Oklahoma are 13-3 on the road this season.
The Cavaliers are the strongest home team in the NBA. The Cavs have won 18 out of 19 home games. Cleveland has a record of 31 wins and only four losses. That is the best record in the NBA currently. Both The Thunder and the Cavaliers are on track to win 73 regular season games which would be a new NBA record. The Cavs have two excellent ball handlers in Garland and Mitchell. They are playing two big men in their starting lineup in Mobley and Allen. That mix has turned out to be a winning formula under the new head coach Kenny Atkinson.
The Cavs are getting some really nice contributions from the bench this season. Caris Levert, Max Strus, Dwayne Wade and George Niang are hitting shots from behind the arc, like crazy. The Cavaliers have won ten straight games. Alex Caruso and Holmgren are out for the Thunder. Sam Merrill and Isaac Okoro are questionable for the Cavs.
