The New York Knicks are up one to nothing in the series with the Detroit Pistons. In the first game of the series Jalen Brunson out played Dertroit’s young star Cade Cunningham. Will The Pistons, led by Cunningham, be able to steal game two tonight at the Madison Square Garden in New York City?
The New York Knick were down by eight points in the MSG at the start of the 4th quarter in game one. The hard playing Knicks were able to turn things around and win the match at the end of the day after they won the last quarter 40-21. The end of the game showed us that the more experienced New York side were ready for the big moment down the stretch of the game. The Pistons are not that experienced and the light always shines the brightest on Manhattan and the Madison Square garden.
The Knicks won game one of the series by 123-112. Jalen Brunson had a awesome 4th quarter and was the biggest reason that the Knicks was able to win the match. The point guard scored 12 of his 34 points in the last quarter. Brunson now has nine 12 playoff games for the New York Knicks with at least 30 points scored. Jalen Brunson had 34 points and eight dimes. Cameron Payne scored eleven out of his 14 points in the 4th quarter off the bench. Mitchell Robinson had six boards of the bench.
The small forward OG Anynoby had a very good game. OG had 23 points, seven boards, five steals and two blocks. The versatile big man Karl-Anthony Towns also had 23 points, he grabbed 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Both OG and KAT were very impactful for the New York Knicks. And they have to be just that if the Knicks are about to get into the second round of the NBA playoffs. The head coach, Tom Tibbideau was satisfied with how the Knicks played down the stretch of the game.
Detroit lost game one mainly due to their poor interior paint defence. So the head coach J.B Bickerstaff needs to make some adjustments regarding that fact for game two. Or The Knicks will be up two to nothing in the series. Cunningham only made eight out of his 21 shot attempts. Cade had 21 points, 12 dimes, six boards and six turnovers. That is not good enough for a player of his stature. Hopefully Cade will learn from his first ever playoff game.
The veteran Tobias Harris scored 25 points and he made four out of his five shots from behind the arc. Harris spoke to nba.com after the game and he told them the following: ”It’s just one game of the series. Playoff basketball is about how you respond. It is one of the biggest things in the league“. Tim Hardaway Jr scored 19 points for the Pistons. Malik Beasly had 20 points off the bench, He made six out of his 12 attempted three pointers. The Head Coach Bickerstaff told nba.com the following after the game: “These games are learning lessons for us. We have to be honest about that“.
