The two frontrunners for the MVP Award will square off in a cold and snowy Buffalo tonight. Both Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen have a burden on their shoulders. They have to make it in the postseason. The winner will face The Chiefs next weekend for the AFC Championship. Las Vegas has The Ravens as the favorite with a slight margin.
Jackson of the Ravens won the MVP last season and Josh Allen is the only one out there that can beat Lamar for the prestigious award. Both of the QBs have had excellent seasons so far. Otherwise, their teams would not be in this situation. Jackson has won the MVP Award twice in his career. But the game tonight is not about individual feats at all. It’s about the game and the opportunity to end up in the Super Bowl in New Orleans in February. The Baltimore Ravens have won the Super Bowl twice (2001 & 2013), and the Buffalo Bills have never done it yet. The Bills have been to the Super Bowl four times.
Baltimore took good care of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round a week ago. The Ravens won by 28-14 at home. The Ravens had a record of 12 wins and 5 losses after the regular season. The Ravens won the AFC North. Lamar Jackson is a huge weapon in itself, and the running back Derrick Henry is too. The Bills will surely have their challenge cut out for them on the defensive end of the field. Jackson hit 16 out of his 21 passing attempts. Lamar passed for 175 yards and had two TD passes. Henry rushed for 186 yards on 26 carries and had two touchdowns. The wide receiver, Isiah Likely, had three receptions. Expect a truly wild crowd at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.
The Bills showed the Broncos that they still have a long way to go last week in the Wild Card round. Buffalo won the game at home by 31-7. Josh Allen had a great game. Josh made 20 out of his 26 attempts. Allen passed for 272 yards and had two touchdown passes. James Cook, the running back, had 23 carries for 120 yards. Curtis Samuel, the Bills' primary wide receiver, had three receptions for a total of 68 yards and one touchdown. Buffalo won the AFC East with a record of 13 wins and four losses.
The injury report looks good for both the Bills and The Ravens. Buffalo’s rookie running back, Ray Davis, is in the concussion protocol and will not play. As far as the Ravens go, their very solid receiver, Zac Flowers, has a knee problem.
