TOTAL (INCL OVERTIME) - OVER 39.5
The champions of the last two seasons, the Chiefs, had a bye last week and are now entering the NFL playoffs in the divisional round. The Chiefs are in it to win it for the third straight time, a feat that has never been done before in the history of the NFL. The Texans are heavy underdogs in this one. They have nothing to lose at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Kansas City Chiefs finished the regular season with a record of 15 wins and two losses. The Chiefs are the top seed in the AFC, and they haven’t been too impressive in the regular season. Stuff like that doesn't matter come playoff time. They just did what they had to do to win a lot of close games. The Chiefs will be a different beast and ready to go. The players are rested after the bye weekend. All of the starters did not play in the last regular season game vs. the Broncos.
The Head Coach of the Chiefs, Andy Reid, knows he needs the best version of QB Patrick Mahomes to make the threepeat a reality. The Texans and the Chiefs squared off in Week 16 of the regular season. Kansas won the game 27-19. The Chiefs have a super solid team with a lot of different solutions they can go to in clutch time, if necessary. One of the major keys in this matchup is the discrepancy in experience at this level. The Chiefs have plenty of it, while the Houston Texans do not.
The Houston Texans defeated the Los Angeles Chargers at home in Texas last weekend in the Wild Card round. Houston won the game 32-12 in a convincing manner and hardly let the Chargers breathe. Texans QB C.J. Stroud had a good game with 22 completed passes in 33 attempts. Stroud passed for 282 yards. He had one touchdown pass and one interception. Houston’s running back, Joe Mixon, had 25 carries for 106 yards. Their top wide receiver, Nico Collins, had seven receptions for 122 yards and one touchdown. The Texans finished the regular season with ten wins and seven losses.
The injury report looks really good for the Kansas City Chiefs. Jaylen Watson and Mecole Hardman are most probably ready to go. Watson has been out since Week 7. Hardman, a wide receiver, is a bit more doubtful than Watson at this point. Joe Mixon, the running back for the Texans, was listed as doubtful on Thursday. So are Robert Woods, Azeez Al-Shaair, and Teagan Quitoriano.
