The fourth week of the NFL season kicks off with a classic rivalry in the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys have been a bogey team for the Giants since 2016. That was the last time the Giants defeated the Cowboys. Since then, Dallas has tortured the Giants. They played twice last season, and the Cowboys outscored the Giants 89-17 over the two games. The Cowboys have beaten the Giants in six straight games.
The Giants started the season with two losses to the Vikings (6-28) and to the Commanders (18-21). They improved significantly from the first week to the second. Last week, things got even better when the Giants won against the Cleveland Browns (21-15). That was a huge win for the New Yorkers considering their poor start to the season. A win over their division rivals would mean the world to the fans and erase some bad memories from this matchup over the last seven or eight years.
Giants coach Brian Daboll must have been very satisfied with what he saw from the energetic wide receiver, Malik Nabers. The rookie had an outstanding game against the Cleveland Browns. Nabers is 5th in the NFL in receiving yards (271) after three weeks and has three touchdowns to his name. Nabers needs another top-tier performance for the Giants to upset the Cowboys. Running back Devin Singletary is a key player for the Giants because the Cowboys' run defense is the worst in the NFL.
Like the Giants, the Cowboys have started the NFL season with two losses and one win. QB Dak Prescott hasn't been at his best yet, but things can turn around quickly. It is a treat for the Cowboys to play a team like the Giants at this point in the season, given their recent history. The Cowboys started the season with a win over the Browns (33-17), but were humiliated by the Saints (19-44). Last week, they lost at home to Lamar Jackson and the Ravens (25-28).
This is a crucial game for both teams in the NFC East. A win could define the season, especially for the Giants at home in front of their fans at MetLife Stadium. The Cowboys cannot take anything for granted. They won’t beat the Giants forever. Trevon Diggs is a key player for the Cowboys, as he will guard the rookie sensation, Nabers. The game could come down to the Cowboys' poor run defense and how effectively the Giants exploit it. Last week, the Cowboys gave up 271 rushing yards to the Ravens. If that happens again, the Cowboys will lose to the New York Giants.
