This game will be the last ever Merseyside derby at the legendary Goodison Park. It was supposed to be played in December but was postponed due to bad conditions. Both clubs are highly motivated to put an end to the Goodison Park era with a win. Liverpool just lost surprisingly to Plymouth in the FA-Cup.
Liveropool lost away to the Championship side Plymouth Argyle (0-1) over the weekend. Liverpool's Dutch manager, Arne Slot, was a bit upset after the loss. More so about the style which Plymouth are using rather than his own team’s performance. Slot was being a sore loser and did some serious complaining afterwards. Not too classy in all honesty. Plymouth are last in the Championship with only five wins in 30 games. It seems like the loss got too Slot.
The Reds are at the first spot in the PL standings. Six points ahead of The Gunners and one game in hand. Liverpool have won three straight games in the Premiership (B’Mouth, Ipswich Town and Brentford). The Reds have only lost one PL game so far this season which of course is very impressive. The Reds are facing the Wolves this upcoming weekend.
With three straight huge wins in the Premier League Everton find themselves nine points above the feared relegation zone. Everton have beaten, Brighton, Leicester and Tottenham. The Senegalese striker, Iliman Ndiyae, scored a goal in each of these three wins. Over the weekend the Toffees lost to Bournemouth in the FA-Cup. Since David Moyes took over the reins at one of his former clubs things have solidly turned around. Moyes spent nine years with The Toffees from 2002 to 2011. Imagine how much he would love to beat Liverpool in the last ever Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park.
David Moyes has a couple of players out. Armando Broja, Youssuf Chermiti, Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Levin. As far as Liverpool goes Alexander Trent-Arnold is out. Liverpool will make up to ten changes in the starting lineup compared to the Plymouth game.
