All good things come to an end, so does this season of the Premier League. Week 35 kicks-off with a match between two teams both display impressive form-curves. Manchester City host Wolverhampton at Ethiad in a match where City are desperate to secure enough points to be up for European adventures next season. Apart from Liverpool, who made their trophy win more or less definite already a few weeks ago, the race for the European qualifying seats is tighter than ever. Manchester City currently holds on of the Champions League qualifiers, but Nottingham Forest and Chelsea are just one point behind. And Aston Villa is still in the race with only four points up to City’s 61. This is a match that the Manchester side is more or less forced to win, and most things speak for that to happen.
I think this is a match where the outcome is almost given, City will not let the three points slip out of their hands against a team that they should manage to beat quite easily. At the same time, Wolves have an impressive streak of five consecutive wins and should not be underestimated at all. Manchester City are still substantially weakened in terms of status for the squad. Haaland, Rodri, Ake, Bobb and Stones are all unavailable through injuries. But with the breadth the team holds, thanks to the multi billion investments by the owners, they will still be able to mount an eleven that should be able to outgun Wolves. Not least since Wolverhampton also have quite severe decimations in their squad available. Kalajdzic, Gonzalez, Mosquera and Chiwone are all on the injury list. And on top of that Lima and Johnstone remain doubtful. After reviewing the status of the respective teams I remain confident that this will go Manchester City’s way and also that the team will want to secure their win as early on in the match as possible. This is term means that we should see the Manchester side produce quite a bit of goals to make that happen. Conclusion: Even with a player like Haaland on the injury list, Manchester City hold great attacking powers in their hand. And tonight we will se at least two to three goals delivered by the home team, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wolves fans will get the chance to to celebrate at least one goal as well. With that as a background I will stay on the “better safe than sorry” path I have had quite a good success with lately.
Therefore my prediction will be Manchester City to win and Over 2,5 goals, a bet which delivers good value compared to risk.
