While we wait for tomorrow's final, we’ve decided to name our EURO24 eleven. It will come as no surprise that the team is mainly composed of Spanish players, as they are the only team in the tournament that has played well in every match. We’re setting up in a 4-3-3 formation.
Goalkeeper: There is a case for Unai Simon, who has had a fine tournament, but our vote goes to Mamardashvili. He was incredible for Georgia in all their matches, and without him, they wouldn’t have achieved their best-ever placement.
Right Back: (Kimmich) It was between Kimmich and Carvajal, both of whom dominated their positions during the tournament. Kimmich didn’t put a foot wrong and offers a passing game that few can match from the right-back position. So, despite Carvajal's excellence, it’s Kimmich.
Center Back 1: Saliba, the choice is easy. Even though France hasn’t played that well as a team, Saliba has been outstanding in every match. Arsenal’s defensive general shows that despite his young age, he has calmness, game understanding, speed, and physicality. He can continue to dominate for the next ten years.
Center Back 2: (Pepe) Once again shows that age is just a number. At 41 years old, keeping up is incredibly impressive. So secure in his positioning, he doesn’t need to fear anyone faster. Always in the right place and a giant in the air. Just applaud.
Left Back: (Kadioglu) Probably the toughest position to pick so far. Cucurella has been good, Mendes okay, but for me, Kadioglu stands out the most. A player I didn’t know much about before the tournament, but he has really impressed both offensively and defensively.
Midfielder: (Rodri) Once again proves he is the best midfielder in the world and truly deserves the Ballon d'Or this year. Shows a passing range that few can match. Additionally, he repeatedly shuts down the opponent's offense.
Midfielder 2: (Fabian Ruiz) Rodri’s colleague takes the second spot. He has simply been brilliant. He has 2 goals and 2 assists, and being near the top of the points table from central midfield is impressive.
Midfielder 3: (Xhaka) Many were candidates for this spot. Olmo, Kroos, Kante, Sabitzer, etc. All would be deserving, but it ultimately goes to Xhaka. He is incredibly important for Switzerland and almost never puts a foot wrong on the pitch.
Right Winger: (Lamal) Everything has already been said about this super talent. At just 16, he has carried Spain's attack at times. He has erased Pele from the history books and, like Pepe, shown that age is just a number. If you’re good enough, you get the chance. He’s proven this both at Barca and now for the national team.
Left Winger: (Nico Williams) Wow, what speed he has. He can absolutely blow past opponents, both with and without the ball! He still plays for Bilbao, but for how long? Many big clubs will likely inquire after the tournament.
Forward: (Cody Gakpo) Yes, he has played from the left wing for the Netherlands, but we’re making a little exception and moving him up front because no striker has truly shone. However, Gakpo has been the Netherlands’ most important offensive player. He is currently tied at the top of the scoring charts.
