Great Britain and the host nation, Australia, will square off in Sydney. The recently engaged Katie Boulter and Alex De Minaur will be in opposite teams in this one. Australia is under pressure and must win this one to be able to get to the knockout stage of the United Cup.
The 28-year-old Boulter won her first match at the United Cup in Sydney. Katie got the better of Nadia Podoroska out of Argentina. Boulter won the match in straight sets. Boulter is currently ranked just inside the top 25 in the world at the 24th spot. If Boulter defeats Gadecki, it will be an uphill battle for Australia to get back in it. Katie Boulter won three titles in the 2024 season.
Nadia Podoroska out of Argentina took care of Olivia Gadecki in her first match of the United Cup. Gadecki lost the match in straight sets and will find herself under some pressure to deliver a win versus Katie Boulter. The 22-year-old Gadecki is currently ranked at the 97th spot in the world. Her best ever was at number 83 (Oct 2024). Gadecki won 40 and lost 27 matches across all tours in 2024.
Alex De Minaur won his first match of the United Cup versus the Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The 25-year-old De Minaur won in straight sets. De Minaur was moving well on the court and did not seem to be hampered by the injury he sustained at Wimbledon last season, which had bothered him in the latter part of the 2024 season.
Jack Draper was supposed to be a part of Team GB at the United Cup, but he withdrew from the event. Billy Harris lost his match to Etcheverry in three sets. The 29-year-old from Nottingham is currently ranked at the 125th position in the world. Harris spends most of his time on the Challenger Tour.
