There is only one player left in the ladies draw that has won Wimbledon. That would be Elena Rybakina. Today she will be challenged by a very motivated Elina Svitolina. Jelena Ostapenko and Barbora Krejcikova have a dream. Both have won the French Open, now they want to win at Wimbledon.
Both players are very solid and allround. They have reached at least the quarter finals at every Grand Slam and they stand at one Grand Slam title each. Both of them have been ranked top 5 at their best, so there is no coincidence that they Are here today fighting for a semifinal berth. Krejcikova’s season has been a bit tough due to a back injury. After her hiatus that lasted two months she has taking it step by step and found her confidence on the court. Barbora has only played 20 matches on the main tour this season and won eleven. Eight of the matches have been on grass and she has won six of them. Ostapenko has played 43 matches and won 30. On grass she has played seven matches and won five. Krejcikova won against Danielle Collins in straight sets in the 4th round and has only lost one set so far at Wimbledon 2024. Ostapenko defeated Putintseva in the round of 16. She still hasn’t lost a set in the tournament. Ostapenko is up 5-2 in the head two head stats. This will be their second match ever on grass and it was won by Ostapenko.

Rybakinas season has been excellent so far. Currently she is ranked at the second position in the live rankings with only Iga Swiatek ahead of her. She has won 8 of her last 10 matches on the tour and 39 out of 46 in total during 2024. She has only lost one set so far in the tournament (to Siegemund) and all of her wins have been comfortable with a sense that she has one or two more gears if it would be necessary. Rybakina has won five of her six matches on grass in 2024.
The 29 year old Svitolina has never won a Grand Slam, she has been to the semifinals at Wimbledon twice (2019 & 23).
