The last tournament of the season is going in Limoges of France. The opening round will be finished off today at The WTA 125 BLS Open de Limoges. The 9th seed, Oceane Dodin will square off with Celine Naef. Elena-Gabriela Ruse will face Anna Blinkova, who is seeded 4th.
Dodin is ranked at the 111th spot in the world. The 28 year old from Lille in the north of France have won 32 and lost 23 matches across all tours in 2024. Back in the summer of 2017 Dodin was ranked at number 23,. Her best ever ranking to date. Last week Oceane played at the WTA 125 Angers and she lost in the QF to Belinda Bencic. Dodin defeated both the Fruhvirtova sisters (Linda and Brenda) in the two first rounds in Angers.
Naef squared off with Dodin on Nov 10th in the ITF Challenger in Luxembourg. It was the final of the event and Celine in straight sets. Celine is currently ranked at the 181st position in the world. The 19 year old from Switzerland has won 35 and lost 27 matches across all tours this season. Naefs best ranking was at number 121 a year ago. Naef has played in one event since she won in Luxemburg. She lost in Angers to Clara Burel last week in the first round.
The 27 year old from Bucharest in Romania, Ruse, is currently ranked at the 122nd spot in the world. Two and a half years ago Ruse was at number 51. Ruse has won one title so far in her career (Hamburg 2021). This season Elena-Gabriela Ruse has won 36 and lost 17 matches across all tours. Last week she played in Angers and lost in the second round to Varvara Lepchenko.
The 26 year old Anna Blinkova is one of the best players in the draw at the WTA 125 BLS Open de Limoges. This is her first entry in the tour since the WTA 250 Merida Open in Mexico. Blinkova played well in the autumn and got to the final at the WTA 125 Abierto Tampico Open. Blinkova is ranked at the 72nd spot. Her best ever was at number 34. 15 months ago. Blinkova has won 24 and lost 29 matches so far this season.
