Tamara Korpatsch defeated the top seed, Ekaterina Alexandrova, in the first round yesterday. A big win for the Hamburg native, for sure. Korpatsch won the match in straight sets (6-4, 7-5). Korpatsch has won 15 and lost 35 matches across all tours this season. She is currently ranked at the 172nd position in the world. Tamara has not been beyond the second round of any event she has played since August.
Leonard is 23 years of age and she is from France. Manon Leonard got the better of her compatriot Sanja Janicijevic in the opening round. Leonard won the match in two sets (6-3, 6-4). Leonard is ranked at the 228 spot in the world. She has won 42 and lost 30 matches across all tours in 2024. Leonard had lost five straight matches in the ITF challenger's before her win against Janicijevic.
The second seed of the WTA BLS Open de Limoges, Daria Yastremska, will face Carole Monnet out of France. Yastremska took care of Alina Chareeva in the first round in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). Daria Yastremska from Ukraine is ranked at the 34th spot in the world. Daria has won 22 and lost 21 matches on the WTA tour in 2024. The 24 year old has not played since the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open. She got injured in August and has been struggling ever since. Daria had seven straight losses before the win in the round of 32 in Limoges.
Monnet got the better of Ella Seidel in the opening round of the WTA 125 BLS de Limoges. Carole won in two sets (6-4, 6-4). The 23 year old Monnet is ranked at the 236th position in the world. Monnet has won 35 and lost 41 matches across all tours in 2024. Her best ever ranking was at number 162 in September of 2023. Monnet is a lefthander.
